Overpowered: the ability to stick grenades
reason: the characters can take too much punishment, and this makes it too easy for somone to run up to you and stick you with a grenade

Underpowered: Boomshot
reason: for something that shoots rockets(that should have splash damage) it should be a killer weapon. That said, when i pick up a Boomshot, i expect to be able to shoot in the area of there feet, and it kill them. Lemme tell you, it doesnt.

I will say this: the ONLY downfall this game has is the weapon balance. They are placed evenly, so that aspect is great, but they are underpowered. A boomshot to the immediate area of an opponent out in the open should kill them. Its just shooter common sense. The sniper needs to have a more powerful shot, because a headshot is not always possible. Even if it just inflicted damage and stunned them for a split second. other then that, GoW was well worth the wait.

can i just say that this game exceeded my expectations in every aspect? the weapons are very well balanced, the maps are fun and creative, the single player blows the doors off of Halo 2's Campaign. The controls are intuitive, and really easy to pick up and play. Like Halo, it is easy to sit down, play for 5 minutes and get the hang of, but also has the merit and possibilites of a MLG title. The mulitplayer has great depth, and in the end I think that the 8 player limit was a great choice. I understand now why you cannot take friends into matchmade games, and its a  minute sacrifice that i am willing to make, because the game is THAT good. I can see playing this game as long as I played halo. I think that if you listen just to the reviews by people at EGM, Xplay, and others, you are doing yourself a great injustice. Pick up Gears of War, because on November 7th(or 12th) the future and Next gen gaming have officially arrived.
