Gearheads of War

What I mean to say is that when AC came out 2 years ago it just seemed like such a "bigger" game. Now AC2 seems like kind of an afterthought. I'm not feeling the hype for this game the way I did for the first one. Is it just because the train of hype and media for MW2 is overshadowing it or is it something else?

Are you guys really pumped to get your hands on this game or is it just another game that you'll play? What are your guys thoughts?

I didn't say it boys and girls. Thoes are the words that tag line the IGN review of the new Batman game.

There is also a video review on the game which I always enjoy viewing. Probably why I like gametrailers.com so much. At first I thought this review was early and was gonna be kinda loaded especially with a title like that, but it seems pretty much in line with other reviews that are up right now. Currently it has a 91 up on Metacritic. I was already getting the game, but it made me wonder does praise from critics really sway people. I know a bunch of peeps here were down on it so I kinda want to hear from you guys.

If everyone keeps telling you something is awesome does it affect your opinion?

Just for thoes out there that have a PS3 and don't feel like waiting till tomorrow to play the Batman: AA demo. It dropped on the PS network a few hours ago so I highly advise you get pick it up and drool over it until later this month when the game comes out.

With all the deleys coming this 4th quarter I'm having to revise my "buy" list. Which when I first heard of some of the games I wanted getting pushed into next year I was really bummed, but now I can see that I'm gonna be able to pick up some games I just wasn't going to have the cash for. So with Splinter Cell and Bioshock gone now I can pick up Beatles: Rock Band and Brutal Legend.

I was just wondering what some of the games that you guys are going to get now if one of your "Buy" list games got pushed?

Ok so Brutal Legend was on my radar, but it was definitly not on my "must buy" list for the year. Well this 15 min intro demostration that's on Gametrailers right now has changed that. Guitars kill people. Jack Black cussing. Great graphics. Freakin' awesomeness!

I'm not talking about what game coming out looks the best. I want to know what 1 thing that you saw or read about got you jumping around in your chair. For me the best thing I saw wasn't even gameplay. It was the CG trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic that got me the most excited. I'm an old school Star Wars geek and damn if that thing didn't give me goosebumps.

I was watching the CO-OP video podcast yesterday (it's the guys that made the 1UP Show if you didn't know) and they were talking about this game called Plants vs Zombies and it's from the same guys that made Peggle, which btw is the sole reason my iPhone keeps running out of juice. So I went over to PopCap.com and downloaded the free version. This game is great. It's basically a tower defence game with a twist. It's totally simple but challenging at the same time and the art style is just refreshing. It's one of thoes games like Peggle where you can just play for 5 or 10 min, but you can also spend a hour or two playing and not realize it.

If you haven't tried it go pick up the free trial. The download takes a whole min or two.

Well the gaming gods have smiled upon me and given the gift that keeps on giving. I got my 360 back today so I can finally stop going through Gears withdrawls and give my PS3 a break. I have to head back out for work but my bro will probably be running it until 8pm tonight when I get back. I'll totally be on after that. Hope to see some of you for FFF.

So back in the old days when kids had to go to arcades to play the cool video games one of the games that sucked up a lot of quarters was Marvel vs Capcom 2. Thank Capcom that they decided to bring it out to PSN and Xbox Live.

Unfortunatly you need a PS3 to get the demo, but if you do have one go and download it. Tons of fun. There's just something about having Gambit, Wolverine, and Cyclops beat the crap out of Ryu that is fun to play.

Oh side note....Here's a video of the Uncharted 2 MP that is coming out with inFamous. Actually looks fun.

So back in December I got the new Red Ring of Death, known as E74. When I called Microsoft about it they said the warrenty didn't cover it and I would have to pay $100 and shipping and handling. Well after already replacing two 360's I was just content to playing my PS3. Now because the error has been popping up so much Microsoft has added it to their warrenty. So I reported the error again and now my 360 is on it's way to be fixed. Hope to see you guys all again soon!

I know a few other Gearheads were excited for Batman: Arkham Asylum as much as I am so I thought I'd throw this out here. GameTrailers just posted the first gameplay trailer of the game being demoed at GDC. It's being demoed on the 360 and the gameplay really looks solid.

Check out the trailer and marvel at something rare in this world. A quality licenced superhero game!
