For those of you Gearheads that are aching for the Comic-Con Exclusive Lambent Locust Grenadier but cannot make it to the show, you can now pre-order the figure plus all of the event's offerings from Amazon. Last year, collectors and fans were gouged as scalpers made a killing by putting the Anthony Carmine figures on eBay. I picked up several for the Gearheads here. Now that Neca has teamed up with Amazon once again, getting your hands on the Gears & Dead Space figures is a no-brainer.

Head over here to pre-order them and save Razor & I the pain of lugging them throughout the show: SDCC Lambent Locust Grenadier

TU4 Will Be Dropping This Friday @ 2 AM PST

Wed Jul 01, 2009 at 03:03:39 AM EST

As many of you may know, Rod gave a breakdown about what fixes & additions were included in the Title 4 Update that was submitted to MS for certification. Well, Rod Ferguson just posted this on the official Epic forum:

Hey all,

It's time to celebrate Independence Day! And we're going to do that with some extra experience and an onslaught of our version of fireworks, the beloved Ticker. Oh and it's looking like TU4 is going to drop just in time for this event!

Starting Friday morning you'll be receiving double XP as well as a 500 XP bonus awarded to the winning team. And to give a little extra bang to Horde we're bringing the Ticker squad (a group of Tickers that all spawn at the same time) into full effect. They'll be showing up a lot more throughout all the waves of Horde and they've completely infested every 10th wave with nothing but Tickers. So if you've been having trouble with Bloodmounts, this weekend is a good time to get your Horde on and get further than ever before. And don't forget that TU4 will give you experience for every wave you beat.

The event will end on Monday morning on July 6th.

So get out there and pop some Tickers for freedom!

Rod.

Criterion Bitch Slaps EA's Stupid Comments About Maxing Out 360

Sat Jun 13, 2009 at 01:35:24 PM EST

I had a very long Skype conversation with Suns the other day about this exact topic. It's ironic how Criterion's technical director, Richard Parr, essentially mirrors my comments that I made in that convo. It's moronic to even make a ridiculous statement like "maxing" out a system. The last time I checked, I thought EA was in the business of selling games, not taking sides in the consoles war. Those asinine comments only served three purposes: make Sony fanboys dance with glee, enrage your stockholders, and make your company seem unimaginative. Congratulations EA, you succeeded.

Burnout Paradise developer Criterion reckons that developers who talk about maxing out the potential of a games console are being a bit silly.

"That's proof that you're not the best," technical director, Richard Parr, told Eurogamer's Digital Foundry channel. "It means you're out of ideas."

"You always find new ways to do things, the constraints lift. Not just with a new console generation but with every game you do," senior engineer, Alex Fry, added. "Whether it's a sequel or whether it's a new game, you learn to do things differently... better. The constraints go away because you learn. While it's nice to say you've maxed something out, there's not really any point."

Another XP Bonus Weekend- NOW!!!

Fri Jun 05, 2009 at 05:25:05 PM EST

Epic is returning from their E3 outing and they seem to be a little bored, so Rod Ferguson & Joe Graf decided to spice things up for this weekend. They've decided to award a 500 bonus experience points for every member of a winning team on Public Matches. Apparently, they're ninjas because they haven't even informed MS that they are doing it. Stay in the shadows, gentlemen.

Here's the official quote from the Epic forums:

OFFICIAL: Winning XP Bonus Weekend
Hey all,

It's been a quiet week and Joe and I are bored. So on a whim we've decided to give all players on the winning team of a Public Match a little sumthin' sumthin'. And by that I mean 500 bonus experience points for winning.

Call us rogue, call us heroes, but hey just don't actually call us.

You know it's unofficial when we haven't even told Microsoft or updated the message of the day. That's the way we roll.

We'll see how this feels and maybe we'll keep it if we like it.

Thanks, oh and I really really do mean Thank You.

Rod.

Left4Dead Fans Threaten Boycott Against L4D 2

Wed Jun 03, 2009 at 09:22:07 PM EST

There's something other than the smell of rotting flesh causing L4D gamers/fans to cry foul.  Here is what I wrote several months ago pleading for Valve not to abandon DLC for L4D: Left4Dead 'Left' Behind".  I hate to say,"I told you so." :(

Price Reduction For 'Dark Corners' DLC!

Fri May 29, 2009 at 10:13:07 PM EST

Due to a lot of dedicated fans and even game sites complaining about the royal shaft at the planned 1,600 MS price point for the new DLC dropping on July 28th, MS has finally come to their senses.  Well, some of their senses.  Instead of disenfranchising the dedicated fan base, they've decided to drop the price point to 1,200 MS points.  That's 400 points ($5 USD) lower.  In addition, there will NO longer be a retail "boxed" product any longer.  So, if you've already pre-ordered it, get your money refunded.  Ign.com was the first to break the news.  The brief interview is listed after the jump.

Looks Like It's "Game Over" For Aliens:Colonial Marines

Tue May 26, 2009 at 02:19:03 PM EST

According to a press release by Sega this morning, it makes no mention of Aliens:Colonial Marines being shown on the E3 floor.  As many of you may already know, Gearbox (Halo PC, Brothers-In-Arms franchise, Borderlands) was the developer.  News had trickled down that the project was shelved due to Sega's inability to stay current with payments to Gearbox.  Randy Pitchford of Gearbox had repeatedly denied rumors that the project was shelved, rather he cited 20th Century Fox & Sega's tight rein on the IP as reasons why there has been a media blackout on the title.  A:CM was due out in April '09 which has already come and gone, and still no new info about the game has surfaced.  Yet, Sega announced Aliens vs. Predator (Rebellion is the developer) last month and it IS being shown on the E3 floor.  As it stands right now, it looks likes it "Game Over, Man...Game Over" (cue Bill Paxton- Pvt. Hudson).  What a freaking disappointment.  This Aliens game had all the makings of an awesome title.  Who the heck wouldn't want to play in a squad based game as Colonial Marines bringing the pain to xenomorphs?!?  Damn it.
