So I had to have a repair guy come over today to fix my A/C and ceiling fan. Yeah, I know both going out in the middle of the summer! Needless to say I've been cooking for the past three days and using my small fan to keep my electronics cool. Hey they come first lol. So as the repair guy aka John, came by I was playing a game of Prey and them messing with some of the LIVE ARCADE stuff. Pac-man just came out today and I decided to take the plunge and spend the 400 points. Say what you will but Pac-man will always be fun, even if the Atari version sucked.
So John is working on the A/C and was like wow so that's the 360 huh? Yeah sure is man. He told me about how he was waiting for the PS3 but wasn't sure about the 600 price point. I told him, "Dude why wait for a system that's gonna slim pickings at launch and be 200 bucks more, and have you seen Gears of War yet?" I then showed him the trailers and the 360 E3 montage on the marketplace. He was stoked and decided, ok that's it! I was gonna wait for a PS3 but that Gears game and Lost Planet look insane, I'm gonna get one this weekend. I give him my gamertag and told him once he signed up to send me a friend invite and we'd chill on a game of Street Fighter. He was freaking over the online play and we talked about how much fun it was playing in the arcades. I even let him go a few rounds online and he loved it. Goes to show that if more people just saw what the system offered...heck they sell themselves.

Theres a theory that through a chain of 6 people anyone can touch the world. I'm not sure if that's true but the world is slowly becoming a much smaller place with the internet and such. Which of course brought me to the idea of XBOX LIVE, which little by little bringing people that share a common passion together. Allowing you to meet new friends and maybe...just maybe meeting someone special. I think that's a really amazing thing to ponder for a moment. While you're there in your living room or bedroom busting out a game of DOA, UNO or maybe a little co-op GOW you could potentially be meeting someone who could drastically impact your life or even better yet, you impacting theres. I've made a lot of great friends online, people that have become like family...all through random chance. I think to myself now what If I had never gone to that forum or posted that blog that day, the what-if's are pretty staggering. I suppose it brings us all to fate, but what a cool concept that tonite while your getting your game on you could meet that one person thats for you...or just someone new to trash talk and kill some punks with. Microsoft had an amazing idea with LIVE, the ability to recognize the power of relationships and communication. XBOX LIVE isn't just a place to play a stupid game and let off some steam but a place to touch the world, all from the comfort of you're living room, I think by far that's truly the most next-gen feature of all the consoles...then again maybe that's just me.
