Hard Drive Question

Alright so if I remove the hard drive from my 360 and put in my friend's 360 can I use his internet connection with my gamertag?
Because I'm sending my 360 away to get fixed and I want to play GEARS SO BAD!!!!!!
I just wanted to know because he is playing everyday and i'm just sitting here doing nothing.
