Personally I'm waiting for the Locust with the torque bow, but cool none the less.

Which figures are you guys most looking forward to picking up, whether announced or coming down the pike?

DS help

Fri Feb 15, 2008 at 07:14:39 AM EST

What's up guys? first off, I should be on tonight for the first time in a LONG while. So look me up for some Rock Band, Burnout, and especially COD4. I can't wait to get dirty with my M249 on some of you...Robbins especially :0)

Second, I finally got my own DS. MsThud got me one for an early b-day gift and gave me Mario Kart DS for V-Day. Sick...my question is, what's the deal with the "friend code"? Is that like a gamertag? if so, how do i find mine or add other people?

COD4 Machima

Fri Feb 01, 2008 at 11:51:45 AM EST

Hello, all. A good buddy of mine and his friends are doing a machima based on Call of Doodie 4. If you're interested and have a few, check it out. Even if i dind't know the kid i'd still think it's pretty funny.

on an unrelated note, i should have my box back sometime next week or early on the week after and not a moment too soon. looking forward to getting back up with you guys and rocking some COD. Who's got Burnout Paradise?

360 and DS

Tue Jan 15, 2008 at 03:26:43 PM EST

Alright guys, my 'Box went to that great big brick pile in the sky over the weekend. Now I need something to fill the void and i think it will come in the form of a DS. Anyone have any suggestions on games to check out? I'm already a fan of Brain Age 2 and Big Brain Academy. I actually just got a pink DS and those two games for McThud on her birthday. But hit me with the suggestions. otherwise, i'll be seeing you guys in a few weeks.

OXM Exclusive Rock Band Tracks

http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/01/03/oxm-getting-exclusive-rock-band-dlc/

Check it out, guys. New tunes for all the Freezepop fans and Bang Camaro junkies like myself. The Bang Camaro song "Rock Rebellion" is easily one of the best tracks on the disc so i can't wait to score it. I also heard that we'll gt some new Iron Maiden for this weeks DLC. FTW.

Rock Band \m/

Mon Dec 03, 2007 at 10:14:18 PM EST

Alright guys, this isn't so much a review as it is my impressions and general thoughts. I hadn't seen a general topic on it, so I thought I'd give my fellow rockers a place to spout off.

So far, I'm pretty impressed. The Strat is a huge improvement over the ol' Gibson Xplorer controller. The effects on the killswitch are cool to play around with. I find myself using an echo or the flanger the most, with the occasional wah-wah (mostly for Dani California and Mississippi Queen). The solo buttons close to the body are indeed very useful. Leading up to release I was calling gimmick shenanigans on them, but I've changed my mind. I don't touch them for solo sections, but do a combination of over/under pick during the big ending sections. The overall size of the Strat is major in my book too. I don't feel as if I'm playing my neice's Mickey Mouse ukelaile (sp?) anymore.

Now for the Mic. I feel like the vocals are the best addition to Harmonix's format. It's so much fun to pull some Sebastian Bach mic swings by the cord as your buddy rolls through a guitar solo. I have to say that i feel pretty lame making sure nobody else is around so i can do some solo vocal stuff. Not to mention the fact that it's a little depressing to do so badly at a song you've loved for years. For me, those songs are Detroit Rock City, Creep, and In Bloom (however I have kicked MUCHO ASSO on Black Hole Sun, Say It Ain't So, Mississippi Queen, and ahem Maps) I will say, though that the mic could stand for a little more style. I'll be a typical whiner now by not offering any suggestions as to what, but it's a little "blah". If that's my biggest complaint, it's pretty damn cool in my book.

Now for the part when I get things thrown at me by all of you guys. The drums. I can't stand it. I've tried, I really have. I just can't buy into having fun with it. They seem pretty sturdy, but I still feel like I'm gonna bust the things to bits. Maybe that just makes me a Boomer. Besides that, I just can't get used to the setup and lack of adjustability. Even if I could drop the red pad and flatten it out more like a snare, I'd have tried much harder to enjoy it. I imagine it's the same as a guitar player trying to play Rock Band or any of the GH games, but I wouldn't know.

As far as gameplay goes, I'm having an absolute blast so far. The songs are FAR better than the line up on GHIII (ESPECIALLY with the includion of another Bang Camaro tune. Let's hope for the whole album on DLC!!!). I love the improv for the big endings instead of having all the ridiculousness mapped out to play. The guitar parts aren't as ridiculously hard as GHII so I'm only frustrated to the point of being determined, not quitting.  The lack (thus far) of online multiplayer world tour and just a straight up bass solo tour are my biggest complaints. But with the former of the two rumored to be resolved by XMas, I'm a happy Thuddy.

That's all I've got so far. Anyone else?

What's up, fellas?

Glad to say that I'm back for a while. I had gotten bogged down with work and teaching drums and such, but since our last competition was last weekend, I'll be around more often again. Can't wait to start blowing stuff up with you guys again. By the way if anyone is curious, my marching band won New England championships and came in 3rd nationally at Giants Stadium last weekend.

2 questions:

Wed Aug 22, 2007 at 12:05:21 PM EST

Should i get Bioshock today?
The Best Buy I stopped at earlier had 2 copies so i stashed one away cuz I'll be back through there at about 1:30. I know i want it eventually, I just won't have too much time to play for the next week and a half or so. Finishing up teaching a band camp, moving, and starting the first half of another band camp for a different school. I don't know if I'd keep coming back to it once I have to stop for a few days at a time.

Who wants to shoot/beat/saw me tonight?
I'm skipping out of rehearsal to start packing stuff but i won't start that til about 7 when my gf shows. Anybody down with the sickness?

What, no recap?
